International Seminar on Chinese Digital Publishing and Digital Library (CDPDL) is an annual seminar and was consecutively held in the last two years, and now becoming an important annual seminar to discuss some hot topics in Chinese publishing, Chinese libraries and Chinese studies.
CDPDL is dedicated to establishing a platform for both domestic and overseas librarians, directors of publishers and experts in Chinese studies to better communicate and share the latest developments in Chinese library community and applications of digital technology. It is not only the channel to communicate the new ideas and technologies, but a well recognized forum for publishers and readers to express their voices and shaping their service models.
The 2011 CDPDL was held in Tsinghua University in August 2011. Over 170 Sinologists, researchers, and librarians from East Asian libraries from 18 countries and regions, including USA, Canada, Czech, Sweden, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, together with more than 400 directors of publishing houses, librarians, professors in library and information science from mainland China joined together to share their latest concept of service and practical experience and later they were invited to visit influential academic institutes and publishing houses in Beijing. During the Seminar, Mr. Wu Shulin, vice minister of General Administration of Publication and Press, and Mr. Deng Wei, deputy director of Tsinghua University Council delivered their speech in the opening ceremony and met several representatives from North America, Japan, Taiwan.
